The National Research Fund (NRF), a State Corporation established under the Science, Technology and Innovation Act No. 28 of 2013, is inviting applications from qualified and experienced individuals to fill three key positions. The organization plays a pivotal role in promoting research to advance science, technology, and innovation in Kenya. All positions are on permanent and pensionable terms and come with competitive remuneration and allowances.
1. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTANT
Ref No: NRF/04/2025
Grade: NRF 5
Salary Range: KES 96,813 – 130,299
Allowances: House – KES 35,000; Commuter – KES 8,000
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 9 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration (Accounting/Finance) or equivalent
CPA (K) certification and ICPAK membership
Completion of a management course (at least 4 weeks)
Proficient in computer applications
Proven track record of performance
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate financial accounting policies and ensure timely expenditure payments
Supervise audit processes and maintain compliance
Safeguard financial records and documents
Manage statutory reporting and taxation
Authorize payments and maintain banking details and signatories
Evaluate expenditure proposals and ensure proper budgetary control
2. PRINCIPAL ICT OFFICER
Ref No: NRF/05/2025
Grade: NRF 5
Salary Range: KES 96,813 – 130,299
Allowances: House – KES 35,000; Commuter – KES 8,000
Qualifications and Experience
At least 9 years of experience in ICT, including 3 years in a senior position
Bachelor's degree in ICT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
ICT certifications (e.g. CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, CISA, CISSP, Prince2)
Membership with ICTAK or equivalent body
Management course (minimum 4 weeks)
Demonstrated ICT expertise and strong work performance
Key Responsibilities
Implement ICT policies and strategies
Develop and maintain systems, infrastructure, and applications
Configure and manage website and networks
Ensure ICT security and maintain hardware and software assets
Provide technical support and manage fault reporting
3. PRINCIPAL HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Grade: NRF 5
Salary Range: KES 96,813 – 130,299
Allowances: House – KES 35,000; Commuter – KES 8,000
Qualifications and Experience
9 years of HR experience with 3 years at a senior level
Bachelor's degree in HR, Sociology, Public/Business Administration or related field
Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP-K) and IHRM registration
Completion of a management course (minimum 4 weeks)
Computer proficiency and excellent performance track record
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement HR policies, strategies, and work plans
Oversee training, performance management, compensation, and welfare programs
Coordinate recruitment, payroll, and HR information systems
Manage succession planning and staff development initiatives
Ensure compliance with HR regulations and maintain documentation
