The Supply Chain Management Officer I is responsible for ensuring efficient, transparent, and compliant procurement, inventory, and asset management at Kenya-AIST. The role focuses on implementing supply chain policies and procedures in line with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act (2015), ensuring value for money, proper asset custody, accurate reporting, and timely delivery of goods, works, and services.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct stocktaking and coordinate issuance of stores.
Procure goods, works, and services in line with procurement laws and organizational needs.
Prepare and coordinate periodic stores returns and initiate stock replenishment requests.
Carry out inventory and asset management, ensuring accurate records and proper custody.
Prepare, advertise, open, and evaluate tenders and manage disposal processes.
Update and maintain lists of prequalified suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
Implement decisions of procurement, tender, and disposal committees.
Enforce compliance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015, and related regulations.
Maintain an updated inventory of equipment, vehicles, goods, services, and related assets.
Conduct market surveys to ensure value for money in all procurement activities.
Qualifications
At least six (6) years of relevant experience, with three (3) years at the level of Supply Chain Management Assistant II or equivalent.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Supplies, Logistics, or a related field.
Membership with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) or a relevant professional body.
Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office, ERP systems, email tools, internet research, and basic data management.
Demonstrated merit and strong work performance; knowledge of data protection laws is an added advantage.
