Position Details

Position: Staff Nurse.
Employer: Mater Misericordiae Hospital.
Location: Nairobi, Kenya.

Main Duties

Plan, provide, and evaluate nursing care to patients based on their individual needs.
Ensure that patients’ physical, psychological and mental nursing needs are attended to.
Provide individually tailored care to patients.
Assist patients to perform their ordinary daily activities.
Monitor, record and report changes in patient’s symptoms.
Maintain accurate reports on patients.
Assess the needs of patients and plan for nursing care.
Participate in ward rounds with medical and nursing personnel.
Assist medical staff in the examination and treatment of patients.
Assist in clinical investigative procedures.
Orient and supervise new staff and students.
Ensure proper coordination and smooth running of ward activities.
Ensure good communication with patients and other departments for continuity of patient care.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to set standards and procedures.
Ensure that patients discharged from the wards take with them the prescribed drugs and discharge summaries and will follow up on scheduled appointments.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department and provide reports as required.

Required Qualifications

The candidate should hold a Diploma in KRCHN/KRN/M.
Hold a BSc Nursing qualification.
Have computer proficiency.
Be registered with NCK with a valid practicing license.
Have a minimum of 1 year post qualification experience in Nursing.
