Position Details

Position: Critical Care Nurses - Locum.
Employer: Mater Misericordiae Hospital.
Location: Nairobi, Kenya.

Main Duties

Assess the patient’s condition and plan for their care.
Ensure that the patient’s physical, psychological and mental nursing needs are attended to.
Treat wounds and provide advanced life support care.
Assist physicians in carrying out medical procedures.
Monitor, record and report changes in patient’s symptoms and maintain accurate reports on patients.
Ensure ventilators, monitors and other equipment in the unit are working properly.
Receive and discharge patients to and from the unit.
Administer intravenous fluids and medications.
Request diagnostic tests.
The Critical Care Nurse will respond to emergencies and life-threatening situations.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to set standards and procedures.
Provide support and education to patients’ families on various topics pertaining to the health of the patient.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the department and provide reports as required.
Perform any other duty assigned from time to time.

Required Qualifications

The candidate should hold a Diploma in KRCHN/KRN/M.
Hold a Higher National Diploma in Critical Care Nursing (KRCCN).
Hold a BSc Nursing qualification.
Have computer proficiency.
Be registered with NCK with a valid practicing license.
Have a minimum experience of 2 years in Nursing.
