Rongo University is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Medical Officer. The successful candidate will provide quality medical services at the University Health Unit, including patient diagnosis, treatment, emergency care, health education and implementation of best clinical practices.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in strategic planning of the University Health Unit together with other medical staff.
Diagnose illnesses, treat patients and prescribe appropriate medication and therapeutic interventions.
Monitor and follow up on patients attending the Accident and Emergency Unit and specialized clinics.
Provide medical advice, counselling, health education and disease prevention services.
Collaborate with other medical staff in managing medical cases and performing major surgical procedures where required.
Implement best clinical practice policies and procedures.
Refer patients to specialized clinics and medical consultants for further management.
Provide quality emergency medical services.
Promote teamwork, evidence based practice and patient centered care.
Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution.
At least two years post internship experience.
Valid registration certificate from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
Evidence of continuing professional development.
