Safari Park Hotel is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Head Baker. Reporting to the Executive Chef through the Pastry Chef, the successful candidate will be responsible for baking high quality cakes, bread and other bakery products while ensuring adherence to production, cost control, health and safety standards.

Position: Head Baker.

Key Responsibilities

Bake high quality cakes, bread and other bakery products.
Prepare pastry items including bread rolls, muffins, cakes and other bakery products.
Check production schedules to determine the variety and quantity of ingredients required.
Monitor the baking process to identify needed adjustments.
Get information from production schedules and standardised recipes.
Be responsible for cost control to avoid waste and damage to equipment.
Adhere to health and safety regulations in the bakery.

Qualifications and Skills

Aged 35 to 45 years.
Holder of a certificate in bakery or pastry from Kenya Utalii College or any other internationally recognised hotel training institution.
At least ten (10) years' experience in a similar position in a large organisation, specialising in making cakes, bread and general baking.
Organised and able to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work within tight production schedules and set quotas for the number of items to be produced daily.
Innately creative and self-motivated.
Sound knowledge of hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen and discipline to enforce those standards.
