Spring Valley Coffee is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Café Trainer. The successful candidate will develop baristas and café managers, champion coffee quality, improve customer experience and operational consistency, and help build a culture of continuous learning across all Spring Valley Coffee cafés.

Position Details

Position: Café Trainer.
Employer: Spring Valley Coffee.
Location: Nairobi, Kenya.
Work Structure: Full-time, field-based role requiring regular travel between café locations.
Reports To: Head of Coffee.

Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver engaging training programmes for baristas and café managers.
Coach new and existing team members to continuously improve their technical and hospitality skills.
Assess competency levels and create development plans that help individuals grow.
Build a culture of continuous learning throughout the café network.
Champion exceptional coffee quality across every location.
Train teams on espresso preparation, milk texturing, filter brewing, and recipe consistency.
Conduct regular coffee quality audits and sensory evaluations.
Stay current with coffee trends and introduce new ideas that elevate the coffee programme.
Develop café teams that consistently delight every customer.
Coach teams on hospitality, customer engagement, and handling challenging situations with confidence.
Help create memorable experiences that keep customers coming back.
Improve café workflows and operational consistency.
Reinforce food safety, hygiene, and equipment maintenance standards.
Work alongside café leaders to identify opportunities for improvement and implement practical solutions.
Mentor future café leaders.
Promote collaboration, accountability, and ownership throughout the business.

Qualifications and Experience

3 to 5 years' experience in specialty coffee, including leadership within café operations.
Experience delivering training, coaching, or mentoring hospitality teams.
Strong knowledge of espresso preparation, milk texturing, filter brewing, and coffee quality standards.
Experience improving customer service and operational performance.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene best practices.
Confidence using Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.
Excellent communication, organisation, and facilitation skills.
