CHEVS is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Strategic Communications Specialist. The successful candidate will deepen and embed CHEVS' communications work, strengthen feminist strategic communications, and support the organisation to amplify movement stories, shift narratives, and influence discourse on rights, equality, and freedom in Africa.

Position Details

Position: Strategic Communications Specialist.

Key Responsibilities

Deepen and further embed communications and influence as core elements of CHEVS' strategy.
Bolster the communications team with an aligned organisational agenda.
Support philanthropic, regional and global influence agendas.
Strengthen CHEVS' feminist strategic communications in a manner that reflects its ambitions, politics, movement spirit and intersectional feminist vision.
Lead the renewal and revamping of approaches to stewardship of CHEVS' collective voice, narrative identity and storytelling practice.
Ensure advocacy campaigns, reports, digital content and convenings reflect CHEVS' politics and vision.
Update CHEVS' communications approaches.
Amplify movement stories, shift narratives and influence discourse on rights, equality and freedom in Africa.

Qualifications

Experienced Communications leader who is strategic, organised, creative and self-motivated.
Ability to act as the primary pen holder of CHEVS.
Sharp decolonial feminist political analysis.
Ability to build a culture of strategic communications for influence and position the organisation as a driver of change.
Experience with asymmetric strategic communications.
Detail-oriented, efficient and accurate.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Passion for queer, feminist, Pan-Africanist politics and movement building.
