Express Shipping and Logistics (EA) Ltd is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Tax Accountant, to be based in either Mombasa or Nairobi, Kenya. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing tax statements and returns, ensuring tax compliance, providing tax advice, managing tax risks, and supporting business operations in line with relevant tax laws and regulations.

Position Details

Position: Tax Accountant.

Experience: Minimum 4 years in Tax Accounting, Tax Auditing, Consulting, or a similar role.

Purpose of the Role

Analyze fiscal matters and prepare, submit, and manage tax statements and returns.
Provide advice on financial and tax matters.
Ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations, laws, and acts.

Key Responsibilities

Create and update tax provision schedules, data collection systems, and the corporate tax database.
Ensure timely and accurate filing and payment of all relevant taxes.
Ensure adherence to tax regulations and requirements.
Liaise with tax authorities regarding tax payment matters.
Determine tax optimization opportunities and recommend strategies to improve cash flow and profits.
Evaluate tax regulations and suggest appropriate policies.
Keep abreast of relevant local and international tax trends and regulations.
Provide services and support on business operation matters.
Recommend tax advisory strategies that align with business goals.
Liaise with tax authorities, consultants, and experts and provide tax related support and training.
Advise management on the impact of new laws on tax liabilities.
Establish appropriate systems and processes for tax risk management.
Prepare tax related reports, including tax calculations, project tax analysis, estimates, provisions, and forecasts.
Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
CPA, ACCA, or KESRA training is an added advantage.
Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Tax Accountant, Tax Auditor, Tax Consultant, or in a similar role.
Tech savvy.

Competencies and Technical Skills

In-depth knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping processes.
Knowledge of tax procedures, auditing, financial reporting, data analysis, and cost controls.
Excellent attention to detail.
Excellent analytical skills.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
