GrowthAfrica is seeking a dynamic, experienced and proven candidate for the position of Grant Coordinator. The successful candidate will oversee the operational integrity of an entrepreneurs grants facility across Kenya, Ghana, Uganda and Rwanda, ensuring grant funding is administered transparently, efficiently and in full compliance with funder requirements.

Develop, maintain and continuously improve the programme's grants administration policies, procedures, templates and operational guidance.
Coordinate the full grants lifecycle for Innovation Incubator and Traction Accelerator grants, including eligibility screening, application review, approvals, supplier verification, milestone monitoring, disbursement, reconciliation and grant closure.
Conduct or coordinate due diligence on beneficiaries, co founders, suppliers and other relevant parties.
Maintain accurate, real time grants records and reporting systems, providing regular updates on commitments, disbursements, utilisation, recoveries and outstanding actions.
Monitor grant implementation and identify potential compliance issues, fraud risks or irregularities.
Coordinate timely investigation, escalation and corrective action in accordance with programme policies.
Work closely with the Finance Associate to ensure grant expenditure is accurately recorded, reconciled and reflected within programme financial reporting.
Build the capacity of programme teams through training and ongoing technical support on grants policy, processes, documentation requirements and compliance standards.
Collaborate with programme technical leads to ensure grant processes are aligned with programme milestones, participant progression and investment readiness objectives.
Prepare grants related documentation, reports and supporting evidence for donor reporting, management oversight, external audits and compliance reviews.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of grants management systems, controls and operational processes by identifying lessons learned and recommending practical enhancements.
Manage end to end grant disbursement cycles, including eligibility screening, application review, approval, supplier pre screening, milestone tracking, disbursement, reconciliation and recovery.
Conduct or coordinate due diligence reviews of beneficiaries, co founders and identified suppliers.
Identify, investigate and escalate any grant misuse, fraud indicators or non compliance issues.
Support external audits and donor reviews related to the grants facility.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Law, Development Studies or another relevant discipline.
A professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA or an equivalent certification is an added advantage.
Minimum 5 to 8 years of progressive professional experience in grants management, programme finance, compliance or fiduciary risk management within development organisations, donor funded programmes, entrepreneurship support initiatives or similar environments.
Demonstrated experience managing beneficiary grants, including end to end grant administration, disbursement processes, financial reconciliation and compliance monitoring.
Strong understanding of donor compliance requirements, fiduciary controls, anti fraud frameworks and financial risk management.
Proven experience conducting beneficiary, supplier or partner due diligence and supporting the management of grant related compliance and operational risks.
Experience developing and implementing grants administration procedures, operational tools and documentation that strengthen consistency, transparency and accountability.
Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage high volume transactions and complex administrative processes accurately and within agreed timelines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using grants management, financial management or project management systems to monitor grant performance and reporting.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to prepare clear reports, operational guidance and audit documentation.
Strong planning, organisational and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams while maintaining high standards of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
