Rongo University is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Lecturer. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate students, conduct research, supervise student projects, contribute to curriculum development and provide professional and community service.

  • Broadcast Media (Reference: RU/ASA/06/07/26).
  • Special Needs Education, Hearing Impairment, Re Advertisement (Reference: RU/ASA/07/07/26).
  • Technology Education, Computer Studies, Re Advertisement (Reference: RU/ASA/08/07/26).
Duty Station: Rongo, Kenya.

Key Responsibilities

Teach and assess undergraduate and graduate courses in the relevant discipline.
Conduct research to inform knowledge, policy and practice.
Develop proposals to attract research funding.
Disseminate research findings through peer reviewed journals, monographs, policy briefs, conferences and other scholarly or creative works.
Develop innovations and inventions and register patents where applicable.
Supervise and examine undergraduate and graduate projects, tutorials, practical sessions and field attachments.
Provide mentorship and career guidance to students and junior staff.
Initiate and implement research projects.
Collaborate with academic staff in curriculum development and review.
Collaborate with industry and other stakeholders to provide consultancy services.
Establish partnerships, linkages and networks, and mobilize donor support for community projects.
Provide professional and community service.
Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

Doctor of Philosophy or equivalent degree from a recognized institution in the relevant specialization.
Alternatively, a Master's degree in the relevant field from a recognized university with at least three years teaching experience at university level or six years research or industry experience.
Registered or eligible for registration with the relevant professional body where applicable.
Demonstrated ability in university teaching and research.
Evidence of participation in conferences and other learned forums.
Master's degree holders must have a minimum of six publication points, with at least four publication points from refereed journal papers.
PhD holders must have a minimum of four publication points, with at least two publication points from refereed journal papers.
Applicants for the position of Research Fellow should have an additional two publication points from refereed journal papers.
