Duties and Responsibilities

Teach and evaluate students.
Prepare schemes of work, lesson notes and lesson plans.
Assess students in clinical areas.
Guide and counsel students on matters related to their academics.
Support the design and development of instruments to assess health training needs.
Develop guidelines for the evaluation of health teaching materials.
Evaluate training programmes to determine their effectiveness and relevance.
Implement competence based curriculum.
Plan and organise continuing education programmes for health workers.
Conduct research in the area of specialisation and supervise students on research projects.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

OR

KMTC Higher Diploma in any of the following specialisations: Anesthesia, Critical Care, Nephrology, Peri-Operative Nursing, Theater Nursing, Psychiatry and Mental Health, Pediatric Nursing, Ophthalmic Nursing, Palliative Care, Public Health Nursing, Midwifery, Oncology, Medical-Surgical Nursing, and Family Health, with practice in the relevant field for a minimum of six (6) years.
Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK).
A valid practicing license.
Proficiency in computer applications.
