Duties and Responsibilities

Teach and evaluate students.
Prepare schemes of work, lesson notes and lesson plans.
Assess students in clinical areas.
Guide and counsel students on matters related to their academics.
Support the design and development of instruments to assess health training needs.
Develop guidelines for the evaluation of health teaching materials.
Evaluate training programmes to determine their effectiveness and relevance.
Implement competence based curriculum.
Plan and organise continuing education programmes for health workers.
Conduct research in the area of specialisation and supervise students on research projects.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this level, a candidate must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences.

OR

KMTC Higher Diploma in any of the following specialisations: Blood Transfusion Science, Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Histopathology and Cytopathology, Microbiology, Virology, Parasitology and Entomology, with practice in the relevant field for a minimum period of six (6) years.
Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
A valid practicing license.
Proficiency in computer applications.
