The Research Evaluation Data Specialist will support the Research and Evaluation team by managing quantitative data systems, survey programming, and statistical analysis for international development research projects. The role focuses on transforming raw field data into reliable evidence that informs evaluation findings, indicator measurement, and recommendations for development programs. The position is primarily remote with periodic in person collaboration in Nairobi and international field deployments.

Position: Research Evaluation Data Specialist.
Organization: Bodhi Global Analysis.
Department: Research and Evaluation.
Contract Type: Fixed term contract for one year, renewable based on performance and organizational needs.
Location: Remote role with preference for Nairobi based candidates and periodic in person meetings in Nairobi.
Travel: International fieldwork representing about 30 to 40 percent of working time.
Reports to: Senior Research Manager.
Salary: KES 200,000 to 280,000 gross per month depending on experience.
Start Date: As soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities
Build and manage end to end data processing pipelines using Python for data ingestion, cleaning, validation, transformation, and export.
Conduct quantitative analysis including descriptive statistics, cross tabulations, hypothesis testing, and regression modelling for baseline, midline, and endline evaluations.
Maintain well documented analytical workflows including codebooks, syntax files, and reproducible datasets.
Manage version controlled repositories using Git to track and document analytical work.
Support the development of standardized analytical environments using Docker to ensure reproducible research processes.
Produce charts, visualizations, and data tables for reports, policy briefs, and presentations.
Design and program digital survey tools using platforms such as KoboToolbox, ODK, and SurveyCTO with proper skip logic and validation rules.
Develop sampling frameworks including sample size calculations and stratification strategies.
Train enumerators on tablet based data collection tools and support troubleshooting during surveys.
Conduct systematic data quality checks during field data collection and monitor enumerator performance.
Build dashboards to track survey progress, completion rates, and data integrity during fieldwork.
Support field deployments by providing technical assistance for digital data collection and piloting survey tools.
Prepare quantitative sections of evaluation reports including methodology explanations, statistical tables, and annexes.
Share knowledge internally by documenting analytical procedures and maintaining shared code libraries.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in statistics, data science, economics, quantitative social sciences, computer science, or a related field.
At least five years of professional experience in data analysis within international development, humanitarian work, or research consultancy environments.
Strong programming skills in Python including pandas, NumPy, and data visualization libraries.
Experience using Git for version control and familiarity with Docker environments.
Experience designing and programming digital surveys using tools such as KoboToolbox, ODK, or SurveyCTO.
Knowledge of sampling techniques including probability sampling, stratification, weighting, and sample size estimation.
Demonstrated experience conducting data quality audits during field data collection.
Fluent written and spoken English with the ability to communicate technical findings clearly.
Willingness to travel internationally for fieldwork deployments lasting two to four weeks.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of French to support projects in francophone regions.
Experience with additional statistical tools such as STATA or R.
Familiarity with quasi experimental research methods such as difference in difference analysis and propensity score matching.
Experience using qualitative data analysis tools such as NVivo or Dedoose.
Experience producing automated dashboards or reports using tools such as Jupyter Notebooks or Streamlit.
Experience working in Sub Saharan Africa or similar development contexts.
