Women Human Rights Defenders Hub (The Hub) invites applications for a Programmes Associate to join their team in Nairobi, Kenya. This is an exciting opportunity for early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience in programme coordination, communications, and human rights monitoring within a dynamic nonprofit environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support planning and implementation of programme activities across the organisation’s focus areas.
Assist in documentation, report writing, and maintenance of programme records.
Conduct desk research and monitor developments relevant to Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs).
Draft engaging content for newsletters, blogs, and social media platforms.
Support event coordination including workshops and learning sessions.
Provide general administrative assistance to the Programmes team.
Qualifications & Skills
Degree in International Relations, Human Rights, Gender Studies, Communications, or a related field.
Strong writing, research, and analytical skills.
Familiarity with human rights and WHRD-related issues is an added advantage.
Interest and some experience in digital communications (e.g. social media, blogs, or newsletters).
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and a team player.
Learning Opportunities
Gain exposure to programme design and implementation in a rights-based organisation.
Develop practical experience in human rights monitoring and reporting.
Receive mentorship and professional development support from experienced programme staff.
Contribute to advocacy and communications efforts.
Internship Terms
Duration: 3 months, full-time.
Type: Modest stipend-supported internship.
Location: Based in Nairobi, Kenya (working from the Hub’s office).
