Haco Industries (Kenya) Limited is inviting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Packaging Material Development Specialist. The successful candidate will lead the end-to-end lifecycle of packaging materials, including development, qualification, approval, optimization, and continuous improvement for existing products and New Product Development initiatives.

Position Details

Position: Packaging Material Development Specialist.

Reporting to: Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end development, testing, and scaling of packaging materials across bottles, cans, cartons, labels, closures, and corrugated materials.
Drive cross-functional collaboration with R and D, Marketing, Procurement, and Manufacturing.
Establish and enforce packaging specifications, technical drawings, artwork standards, and performance test protocols.
Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory frameworks and quality management systems.
Drive Root Cause Analysis and CAPA implementation.
Resolve line-efficiency and customer quality issues.
Qualify, audit, and manage strategic suppliers.
Spearhead value engineering, cost-saving initiatives, and sustainable packaging redesigns.
Evaluate real-world packaging durability and support anti-counterfeiting and authentication measures.
Maintain material databases and track defect trends, supplier performance, and quality KPIs through structured dashboards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Packaging Technology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
4 to 7 years of experience in packaging development, quality assurance, and FMCG manufacturing.
Deep expertise in diverse packaging formats, testing methodologies, and supplier auditing.
