The SERA Scholarship Program by Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology is a fully funded European Union supported initiative aimed at strengthening education, research and innovation in agroforestry across Africa. The program focuses on building capacity in climate smart agriculture, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development through academic mobility, research collaboration and advanced training.
PhD at Chinhoyi University of Technology in Zimbabwe starting September 2026.
MSc at University of Juba in South Sudan starting September 2026.
MSc at National University of Agriculture in Benin starting September 2026.
Must be a Kenyan citizen residing in Africa at the time of application.
Hold a Bachelor’s degree for MSc or a Master’s degree for PhD in relevant fields such as agriculture, environmental science, forestry or related disciplines.
Meet admission and language requirements of the host university.
Demonstrate strong academic performance and research potential.
Commit to returning to Kenya after completion of studies.
Female candidates, candidates with special needs and those from disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Compliance with admission requirements of the selected programme.
Motivation and relevance to agroforestry and climate related fields.
Socio economic background and personal circumstances.
Strong academic references.
Full tuition fee coverage.
Monthly stipend of €1230 for PhD up to 36 months.
Monthly stipend of €890 for MSc up to 22 months.
Round trip airfare and insurance coverage.
Completed application form indicating programme of choice.
Certified academic certificates and transcripts.
Motivation letter not exceeding two pages.
Detailed curriculum vitae.
Two academic reference letters.
Copy of passport as proof of nationality.
PhD applicants must include a research proposal of up to four pages.
