The Actuarial Associate - Life is responsible for supporting the day to day activities of the Actuarial unit by performing data checks and analysis, experience investigations, business projections, and valuation of insurance technical liabilities for the assigned Life Insurance line of business.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate with the assigned business segment in the preparation of valuation data.
Calculate accurate insurance technical liabilities for monthly financial reporting and prepare valuation reports.
Provide actuarial input during product development for the assigned line of business.
Support product pricing and setup within the actuarial pricing and valuation system.
Carry out experience investigations including expenses, lapse experience, intermediary performance, investment performance, and other assigned areas.
Prepare input data for annual business planning, strategy reviews, capital management, solvency reporting, and stress and scenario testing.
Coordinate with the assigned business segment in preparing management and board report data.
Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

University degree in Actuarial Science or another highly numerate subject.
Good progress in the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries examinations or another recognized actuarial professional body with at least two actuarial exams passed.
Zero to two years of experience in a similar position.

Key Competencies

Strong knowledge of statistical techniques.
Good understanding of the insurance industry in Kenya.
Knowledge of reinsurance arrangements and structures.
Proficiency in statistical packages or programming languages such as SAS and Visual Basic.
Knowledge of database management systems.
Strong analytical, problem solving, and reporting skills.
